James R. Kunz, age 70, of Port Sanilac, passed away peacefully, under hospice care on February 12, 2016, with his family by his side.  He was born on December 31, 1945, in Port Huron, to the late Thornton and Helen Kunz.  He married Bonnie Weiss in West Haven Baptist Church, on September 11, 1971.

Jim served honorably in the Michigan National Guard for five years.  He graduated from Port Huron High School.   He retired from Webb Rack Company.  Jim treasured his faith in God, and enjoyed bible study and the people in the fellowship.  He enjoyed tinkering with cars, cooking and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; two sons, Geoffry Kunz and Johnathon (Stacey) Kunz; granddaughters, Amanda Caesar, Haley Norris and Brianna Backensto; one great grandson, Kamryn Spencer; sister, Carolyn Holley; brother, Donn Kunz; niece, Ronda (Rick) Bingham; nephew, Jame Reaume; lifelong friends, Linda and Gary Smith; along with several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Kunz and Thornton Kunz, Jr.; and sister, Judith Reaume.

Private family services will take place. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
