Stephen Lawrence Jurk, 61, died Saturday, August 21, 2010 at home surrounded by his family. He was born March 8, 1949 in Port Huron to Henry and Annabelle Jurk. He married Judith D. Lenn on May 17, 1969 in Port Huron. Stephen was employed with General Motors for 25 years. He was a member and former usher at St. Christopher Catholic Church. He enjoyed tinkering with his cars and gardening. He is survived by his wife, Judith; two sons, Michael Jurk of Indianapolis, Indiana and Scott Jurk of Marysville; a granddaughter, Alexis Yurk; two brothers, Dale (Judy) Jurk and Stan (Gail) Jurk; two sisters, Elizabeth (John "Jack") Mazure and Teena (Michael) Kay; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the Marysville Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Jurk will lie in state at St. Christopher Catholic Church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 27, 2010. The Reverend Arthur Baranowski will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Chris Elliot Fund for Glioblastoma Brain Cancer Research or to the Blue Water Hospice Building Fund.
