Theodore Kopa

Theodore J. "Ted" Kopa Ann Arbor Theodore J. "Ted" Kopa age 61, formerly of Whitmore Lake, died unexpectedly of natural causes on February 3, 2011. He was born August 8, 1949 in Sarnia. He attended Port Huron Schools, and received a Rotary Scholarship to attend Port Huron Junior College. He completed his studies at Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Ted enjoyed working as an X-Ray Technician. He started his career at Mt. Carmel Hospital in Detroit, and then later worked at various nursing homes. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golf. He is survived by his children, Joseph (fiancé Emma) Kopa of Washington D.C., Jeffrey (Stephanie) Kopa of Chicago, Illinois, and Janelle Kopa of Brighton, MI, his mother, Bernice Kopa-Young of Port Huron, a sister, Mary (Mark) Rademacher of White Lake, MI, a brother, Edward (Carol) Kopa of Marysville, and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father Thaddeus J. Kopa in 1976. A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Smith Family Funeral Home - South, 1230 7th Street with The Rev. William Terry of St. John's United Church of Christ officiating. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 12 noon on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's U.C.C. or the Michigan Wildlife Conservancy.
