John F. Corby

Ruby - John Franklin Corby, 69, of Clyde, died Wednesday, November 15, 2017.

He was born June 28, 1948, in Rockford, Illinois, to the late Robert J. and Phyllis Helen Corby. He married Christine M. Guenther on December 26, 1970, in Port Huron.

John was employed at Prestolite for 25 years. 

He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and bowler and ran the Frank Fitzgerald Industrial Softball Tournament for 25 years. He was past president of the Clyde Township Little League and a major fundraiser for the little league making vast improvements to the program and facilities. John enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports. John's family was the most important part of his world.

He is survived by his wife, Christine M. Corby; two sons, Kevin (Caroline) Corby, Jud (Kristie) Corby; two daughters, Sheila Corby and Mindy Corby (Eric Herbert); seven grandchildren, Courtney, Curtis, Tucker, Jordon, Justin, Jayce and Jonathan; three siblings, Donald (Judy) Corby, Sherry (Charlie) McCallum and Ronald (Denise) Corby; and several nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2017, in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Reverend Max Amstutz will officiate.

Memorials may be made to Blue Water Hospice.

As I remember him, John Corby was a gentle giant of a figure in high school. Quiet and kind with the sweet nature of a young lad trying to fit in with the crowd. And fit in he did. Everyone knew and liked John, it was hard not to. My sympathy to John's family and friends. Rest in Peace John. Rest in Peace.   angel
